I don't know how I should start
Shall I talk about the real person behind this story
or the great movie about him.
Christy Brown (1932-1981) is an Irish author, painter and poet
who had severe cerebral palsy
(neurological disability due to permanent damage to the brain
due lack of oxygen usually during birth) .
In his early childhood he used his left foot for the first time
to communicate with his family members.
Later he learned how to write and draw with his left foot.
Hence came the name of his autobiography
that made him famous,
My Left Foot
published in 1954.
It was later (1989) made into a movie of the same name
that was nominated for 5 oscars and won 2 of them.
The movie also won so many other awards.
The story and the movie showed us
how he struggled with his severe disability
and how his mother believed in him
and never gave up on him.
Both him and his mother set an example
of how to persevere and have strong faith
in someone no matter what the difficulties or the odds are.
As for the performance in the movie, its first rate acting
that cannot get any better than that.
Daniel Day Lewis , one of my favorite actors,
played his role in a very capable
and convincing way.
He won an Academy Award for Best Actor.
Brenda Fricker won the second Oscar for Best Supporting Actress
for her role as Christy's mother.
Very inspiring story presented in
a top notch performance.
I hope you enjoy all.
